Private View: Surrey Artist of the Year

Join DAiSY in recognising Surrey’s artistic talent with the Surrey Artist of the Year 2026 competition. The exhibition launches this Friday 11th September 6 – 8pm.

Organised by New Ashgate Gallery in partnership with Surrey Artists Open Studios, this annual event has championed local artists since 2009, offering a platform to showcase their work and connect with new audiences.

The competition features a diverse selection of artists working in painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles, ceramics, and more. Voting continues until 23 October, noon, to help determine the winner. The prize includes a £2,000 bursary towards a solo exhibition and community workshop activity.

This year, our nomination is artist Amy Mears. Amy draws inspiration from nature, her travels and experiences, capturing fleeting moments and reimagining them through bold colours and thoughtful compositions.
