Windows to the World with ADAHK

International Art Exchange with Hong Kong

Windows to the World is an international art exchange between DAiSY and ADAHK, a Hong Kong disability arts organisation, bringing together disabled artists from Surrey and Hong Kong around one shared idea: the view from their window. First shown at DAiSY FEST in November 2025, the exhibition travelled to Hong Kong in June 2026 as part of the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio’s Artlink programme.

About the project

Windows to the World began with a simple question: what do you see from your window? Artists from five DAiSY member organisations, The Grange, Art Venture, Halow, Creative Response and Bloomin’ Arts, took up that question alongside artists at ADAHK, an inclusive art studio in Hong Kong. Working thousands of miles apart, they arrived at something that reads like a conversation.

The work reflects how differently a window can be understood. It is an opening and a boundary at once, letting us look outward while framing and filtering what we see. The pieces range from busy city scenes to quiet gardens, from abstract impressions to detailed landscapes, each shaped by a particular life and place. Running through them are shared threads: navigating accessibility, negotiating visibility, and reflecting on how society responds to difference. The views come from opposite sides of the world. The feelings behind them do not. Much of the work was made on acetate, and the curation made the most of it. Light passed through the panels and cast shifting colour across the space, so the exhibition carried its own theme of how perspective, light and position change what we see.

Windows to the World was first shown at DAiSY FEST at G Live in November 2025, where it was seen by over 500 visitors. Later, In June 2026 it travelled to Hong Kong, exhibited in Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre, where over round 1,500 people came to see it. It has been a privilege to see our members’ work reach audiences so far from Surrey, whilst strengthening international networks with our fantastic project partner ADAHK.
