Become a Peer Research for DAiSY-Chain
We’re inviting 2 DAiSY-Chain artists to become paid researchers
Are you part of the DAiSY-Chain network? Would you like to develop your research skills, connect with other artists, and help shape the future of disability arts in your area?
DAiSY brings disabled artists from across Surrey together through our DAiSY-Chain Artist Network. This group of independent artists meets monthly to experience art and culture together, building friendships and collaboration opportunities in the process. We’re inviting two artists from the DAiSY-Chain to become Participatory Action Researchers.
What is the project?
This project is about sharing and developing the DAiSY Network Model to build stronger, local disability arts networks, and so it can be used in other regions across the UK.
We’re using Participatory Action Research. This means:
- The research is led by members of DAiSY-Chain
- Your lived experience and ideas are valued as knowledge
- Everyone involved helps shape what we learn and create together
You’ll work with other artists and the DAiSY network to help create a toolkit that shows how the DAiSY network model works in real life.

About the role
As a Peer Researcher, you will:
- Work as part of a small team of 2 – 4 researching the DAiSY Network model
- Help design and carry out the research, supported by lead researcher Jasmine White
- Receive training in research methods like interviewing, questionnaires and creative facilitation
- Speak with other artists and organisations about their experiences of working with DAiSY
- Co-facilitate 1 or 2 creative workshops for other DAiSY-Chain artists. This will involve using your creative practice to support other DAiSY-Chain artists to share their feedback and experiences of DAiSY
- Work with lead researcher Jasmine to analyse the feedback collected from the research to identify what works well and what could be improved at DAiSY
You do not need any previous research experience. We will provide training and support throughout.
Fee
You will be paid as a freelancer with a project fee of £630.
This is based on a freelance rate of:
- £140 per day
- 4.5 days of work across the project

Applications will be reviewed by the DAiSY staff team. There is no interview stage; a selection will be made from the submitted applications.
We will provide more information on Participatory Action Research, and what the peer researcher role will involve. There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about the project. The open meeting will be recorded, so we can share it with you afterwards.
