DAiSY receives APS funding to launch ‘Reaching Out’
DAiSY has been awarded funding from Arts Partnership Surrey to launch Reaching Out – a new project to grow our network and support more D/deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse artists across Surrey. We’ll focus on areas with low representation – Elmbridge, Runnymede, Spelthorne, and Surrey Heath – inviting four new member organisations to join DAiSY.
DAiSY-Chain artists Xan Dye and Gerald Curtis will lead Practice in Parallel, an art project exploring and celebrating neurodivergent creativity, non-verbal ways of communicating, integrating rhythmic and repetitive movements (stimming) with contemporary dance, visual art, and sound.
Dye and Curtis will deliver creative workshops with one of our new members, and the work will be exhibited at DAiSY Fest, in 2025. If you’re a disability-focused organisation in any of these boroughs offering creative activities, we’d love to hear from you!
Arts Partnership Surrey delivers vibrant community-led arts to improve the lives of local people. These include Surrey Dance 21, community theatre tours and the ‘Culture Seeds’ project, which supports starter projects from artists to be delivered in their local areas.
Like DAiSY, APS want Surrey to be home to equal access to the arts.
They are a long-standing group of local councils working together to create arts for Surrey that meet local social, economical, learning and health needs.
